A Saugeen First Nations Birchbark Canoe Model, c1960 There are no chipsSaugeen First Nation is an Ojibwe First Nation band located along the Saugeen River and Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada, with a population of approximately 2,000. Presented here is a hand crafted birchbark canoe model, dating to the late 1960s, attributed to an Ojibwe maker and faithfully replicating an early traditional canoe design. Presented on two later pine display stands. Measurements: 45cm long x 10cm deep x 17cm high including stands.
