Musée No:397.038 college Edward Harrison May JrChild in a Straw Hat Artist: Mary Cassat Date: 1886 Mary Cassat, 1844 1926, was an American painter and printmaker who lived much of her life in France. She was a friend of Edgar Degas who had a considerable influence on her style. She was part of and exhibited with the Impressionists. She specialised in painting mothers and their children and the tender bonds between the two. We don't know who this little girl is but unusually for Mary's models she
