When each gnome is born, elders mark the babes skin to proclaim the childs purpose. Throughout their lives, these tattoos expand in proportion to their deeds. In a sense, every gnome is a living book telling the story of their accomplishments, but the tattoos also grant powers, such as doubling their strength.
