I'm sure it would polish out but we somehow missed doing so before photographing

only a tip of an oak leaf is slightly chipped

The outer frame is the old original and is wood with a light gesso ornamentation

Could be improved with a wipe of black shoe polish

The original 6 carved mother of pearl handled tools still inside, along with a wonderful pocket knife (sadly, blade broken), and retractible silver pencil, thimble.
